One of my favourite summer activities with my children! The only issue is making sure they don't eat any strawberries before we have paid for them! We went to Halberton Court Farm Shop, which is around a 25 minute drive from the farm. The strawberries taste like no other, and were all gone before we even got home. The advantage of this strawberry picking site is that the fruit is all grown under polytunnels and therefore you can still go on a rainy day and not get wet!
Halberton Court also has a lovely farm shop, with so many great locally sourced products and a great butchers. Why not make more of an event of it and sample one of the homemade cakes in the on-site cafe, which has a lovely garden with play equipment for the children. For more information please see the website below.
On our way back home we decided to make a stop off at Quarts Moor, this is all part of the National Trust land owned around Wellington Monument. The views here offered over the Taunton Vale and across to the Quantocks are exceptional and there are some lovely walks and areas for children to play. Quarts Moor offers a free car park which is accessed from the Blackdown Hills Road.
