A couple of weekends ago, my husband and I managed to escape our children for a few hours and explore Heron Farm. This amazing place is just minutes from the centre of Honiton, yet you wouldn't know it! Having previously featured on Grand Designs, I have always been interested to go and find out more and I was not disappointed.
We started the afternoon with a vineyard tour and tasting, these currently take place every Saturday at midday. The tour was fascinating, learning about how to grow grapes for wine in East Devon, finishing with a tasting of course. The sparkling wine was a favourite for me. The wine is available to buy in the small on-site shop.
This was followed by afternoon tea in the café, which was an absolute treat, sandwiches, cakes and a scone of choice each, I went for raspberry and my husband went with cheese and chive. The gardens surrounding the café are so beautiful, full of amazing flowers.
There is a playground, a fairy trail, a vineyard walk, animals and electric charging points for those that need. If you are after a place to visit, relax, dine and explore, this really is one not too miss!
